Creating A Web Page

Two Web Page Creation Options

HTML (Hyper-Text Markup Language) is the basic language used in building web pages.

There are two basic types of editors people use to create web pages.

  1. WYSIWYG -- What You See Is What You Get

These editors allow you to build a page by clicking and dragging images and text onto the editor's screen. These editors display the screen as a visitor would see it, and they create the HTML to display it as you manipulate the display.

  2. HTML Editors

These editors allow you to build your web page using HTML tags. These editors often have help screens to describe the syntax of the HTML tags and they usually allow you to view the page created by the HTML.

The WYSIWYG editors are easier to use for beginners, but create HTML code that is redundant and hard to understand.

Personally, I prefer the HTML editors so I can create "clean" code. Some people say that search engines can understand your page better if it is not cluttered with unnecessary HTML code.
